Boko Haram vs 'Boko Halal'Isn't it time we did a thought-reversal on our approach to this thorny issue of Boko Haram. We must learn to get to grips with the hard fact that ours is a plural society and as such conflict is inevitable from time to time. Boko Haram vs Boko Halal is nothing unusual in any diverse society. It is the age old struggle between modernity and tradition, civillization and primtitiveness or westernization or localization. It is one debate that raises questions on the dress we wear, the food we eat, the language we speak, the religion we practice, the judicial system we prctice. Conflict is part of the dynamics of any functional society just as conflict management & resolution is an important aspect of governance. It is natural for a people to rise to defend what they hold most in values. While a people can choose the way to live their lives they should not do so in a way that put the lives and properties of others at risk. Our country has been tormented enough by the cladenstine activities this violent non conformist sect. They have killed and maimed several innocent Nigerians and destroyed propeties worth millions of Naira. I think enough is enough. The federal government should prove its up to this challene, and the security services has a great role to play in intelligence gathering on the finaciers of these miscreants. Having said that the government should attempt to hear them out and assuage thier feelings. Definetly, Boko Haram has no place in a modern Nigeria.
Re: Boko Haram vs Boko HalalMedernity or westernization with all its shortcomings affords us easier and better living. Boko Haram is evil. |
