His story was first reported by The Nation early November and they are yet to get any reasonable response or assistance from no one. It is painfully unfortunate that in a country were the leadership professes service and loyalty to the citizens; no one has been touched to help this young lad who daily passes through an affliction the pain which is obviously too much for someone his age. I read the story for the first time today and I was deeply touched by the physical situation of the boy and the plight expressed by the mum in the brief text. I called her and after getting her to confirm what I will call my ‘security’ questions (to be sure I was speaking to the right person), she repeated all that was written down and went ahead to give me further details of the ailment, she told me they have received calls from three good Nigerians who promised to help. I asked how much was needed and how much she had gotten so far and the reply was three hundred thousand naira and nothing significant respectively. I asked to speak to the boy who was at pains at talking and I just managed to console, comfort and pray for him. I am definitely going to send some money down because consolations and prayers is not enough. I want to call on soft hearted Nigerians and friends of Nigeria as well to please pick up the phone and talk to this lady with a view to help no matter how small. Anyone with any inkling of doubt can call the The Nation Newspapers directly to double check the authenticity. It involves no commitment, registrations or hassles, I didn’t have to disclose my name to her though she somehow knew I was calling from outside. Is it not sad that in a country were elected Federal Representatives walk away with 45 million naira quarterly allowances, a boy of four is battling a situation that can be turned around with just 300 thousand naira.
